Designated in 1930, Riding Mountain National Park is a rich, thick forest of boreal, prairie and mixed deciduous trees. The stunning small town of Wasagaming, bordering the clear blue waters of Clear Lake, is complete with shops, restaurants and a beautiful beach for swimmers. The park headquarters is located here with information on park trails, as well as one of the top golf courses in the province. Lakes in the park are popular fishing and wildlife-spotting (black bear!!) areas, and there are several attractive campgrounds around.

Dauphin, just north of this large park, is home to a large Ukrainian community. The National Ukrainian Festival is held here each year, as well as the Ukrainian Folk Art Centre and Museum. Country music lovers, get on your cowboy hats, and hit up 'Countryfest', one of Canada's largest outdoor country music festivals held here in Dauphin annually.
